Announement from the Parschauer's!

Dear Friends,
We serve the True and Living God. He is active, involved…engaged. Notice how God reaches out His hand and touches our mouths and our lives; how
He sends us, and commands us to speak what He asks us to say.

BIG NEWS!
Today, Jen and I are excited to make an announcement. Almost two years ago, the
founding pastor of our home church here in Lancaster stated that he felt it was time to
move on (oddly enough, the day we became members!). It has been a mutual blessing
to serve in a part-time interm capacity, both satisfying their need, and fulfilling a desire
to serve locally with my gifts. Fund raising, as you know, has been quite difficult in light
of the current economic situation. Over time, it has become apparent that this is a new
open door in our lives, and I will soon be installed as the lead pastor of Community
Fellowship Church. We have prayed about this for a long time and sense God’s call to
continue impacting the world based out of our home church.

What about Austria?
Our church desires for me to maintain my relationship with Austria, and in fact
established a partnership with the ministry there over 2 years ago. We’ve already had
an Austrian intern couple serve for 3 months with us here, and have brought 3 teams
over from our local church to serve with nationals there. Our elders desire that we
continue that relationship, and go over 2 times a year as needs arise. Our relationship
and communication with Austrians has expanded thanks to our local church body!

What about funding nationals?
Our Fund for Austrian nationals will carry on. We are asking you to continue
sponsoring missions in Austria. We will no longer be using the support for our income,
but we plan to use it to directly sponsor nationals. We desire to provide funding to
nationals in order to encourage and jump-start them into ministry positions. People like
Robert Wascher, Andi Heusser, Marco Ebner and Mathias Ottacher are all nationals who
have committed their lives to serve Christ in their own country (knowing language
and culture). They are already working, but they need funding and encouragement
in order to free them up to minister more effectively. This is a great opportunity to get
the most effectiveness out of our ministry support- to SPONSOR NATIONALS!

What about correspondence?
As some of you may know, my brother Brent is with Titus International. Brent has
agreed to work with you and help in an administrative role. He will be collecting and
relaying information to you on a quarterly basis. On the ground in Austria, our
national Titus missionary, Daniel Kistenich, will continue to be involved in our work with
nationals. I will be in touch with Brent in order to give him updates when I travel to
Austria. The relationship will continue; the growth will continue, and God, who started a
work there, will complete it!

What about the funding process?
Please continue to make checks out to Titus International. The memo will be for the
“Austria Fund”. My brother Brent will be your main contact person for any questions you
may have: bparschauer@yahoo.com

Born to Burn
Coming up in May, I will be the speaker at Austria’s
national youth convention! Once again, we will take a
team from our home church, this time our worship team, to
serve throughout the conference. The topic, Born to Burn
will be a challenge for young people to be vessels, available
for God’s use in His Kingdom. Chris and Tine Urch, the young couple that did an
internship at our church, are taking on a key role in putting together the event.
Please pray that God will give them strength and guidance. Please also pray for me to
discern and speak the words that God puts in my mouth (Jeremiah 1).
God has given us many
years of growth and
relationship both with
you, and with the
Austrians we have such
a heart for. It’s been a
real privilege to share in
all that He has done and
will continue to do there
through both the “goers”
and the “givers”. Please
persist in prayer for
life change in Austria!

Wishing you God’s best for 2010

Dear Friends,

The other day I woke up early and thought to myself, “The house is so quiet; I am going to take extra time to read scripture and pray today.” However, within two minutes the kids were up and my aspirations vanished like a dream. The only thing I took from my quiet time that day was Hebrews 10:14 (above). As I look to a new decade, I can rest in the fact that even with my insufficiencies (not enough time to read, pray, parent, be a good husband, win the world to Christ...), God has already declared us perfect in His sight. Furthermore, He is in the process of making us more like Him each day.

When God is in it...
Most churches in Austria grow from living room Bible studies into small congregations that meet in a storefront or a house. If the body grows, they might knock out a few walls to form a bigger meeting room. The first church we worked with in Graz has grown from 130 to around 280 people. Their building is situated in a residential area, and their prayer has been for God to allow the neighboring houses to go for sale. In the last years God has answered their prayers. Two properties right next to the church have been purchased! The last one had a man living in an old house who was very antagonistic toward the church. God took him. His son inherited the house and sold it to the church for €120,000. The church only had half the funding, but by faith they bought the house. Once they began to rummage through the old things left behind, they
found GOLD COINS worth exactly €60,000 to pay for the rest!!

When God is in it….

This FALL I had the chance to take a group of Americans to Graz to help with the building project. The first phase was to renovate the old house into an apartment for their janitor, and use several of the rooms as meeting rooms for youth, elders and children’s ministries. Next year the plan is then to reconstruct the existing church building to a 450 seat auditorium that is expandable to 600!! Please pray for the church in Graz during this challenging phase. As in the times of Nehemiah, these projects rarely go without opposition and conflict. On our final day in Graz, I had the chance to preach in church. Three people indicated making a decision to trust Christ as Savior. One lady (Lydia), whom I spoke with afterwards, is still wrestling with the idea that Jesus is the only way. Please pray for her salvation.

Building into the Future…!!
Please remember to pray for the annual nationwide youth convention coming up in May of 2010 (http://2010.pfiju.at/). I will be the speaker, and we plan to bring a group from the USA to help with set up for this. There will be young people from all over Austria challenged with the topic: Born to Burn! The committee is already working on all the preliminary planning. Please pray for young people to come to know Christ and for believers to recognize their true purpose in life: to be vessels, available for God’s use in His Kingdom. Please also pray for me to be “on fire” for God, the way He wants me to be, so that I can challenge young people to “burn” for God.

Wishing you God’s best for 2010

Letter from Austria

Dear Friends,

Have you ever thought about how Europeans communicate with each other? In English! So why not offer English lessons in Austria in a camp setting? For several yeas now, in cooperation with a few Christian organizations from American and Austria this is being done. I was able to be the Bible teacher at one of the English Camps this summer, along with my brother Brent. Can you believe it! Most of the kids that come are unbelievers. We spend the day with them in an "English-speaking" world with American games, food, activities, and language lessons; each evenings we do a chapel service with them. By the second evening I was able to invite kids to make a decision to follow Christ. Fifteen campers prayed to trust Christ as their Savior. By the last night, another five took that decision. At the end of camp we informed them about the location of local youth groups they can join. :lease pray for each of these kids.

Lost Friends

While in Austria, I had the chance to visit a couple of my friends. First there is Mario. Just days before travelling to E-camp, I was informed that his 24 year-old son, Christian, had killed himself by jumping in front of a train. HE had painted on a rock in his room, "The world is black." Mario asked me, "Where does it say in the Bible that Jesus is the light?" I was able to share the entire Gospel with him again, and with tears in his eyes he clutched onto my hands and we prayed. I am not sure that Mario has personally accepted Christ at this point. When I ask him he doesn't say anything. I think he is under great pressure in the village because his son Christian had told people that I am a cult leader and warned his dad about meeting with me. Another great opportunity opened up when my old soccer coach from 25 years ago contacted me and was wondering where I live and what I do. I gave him the full story, and told him that by "chance" I will be in his neighborhood near Munich in the next few weeks. We made out a time to meet, and I was able to share the Gospel with him clearly. Please pray for Mario and my old soccer coach, Peter.

Skater Event in Spittal

As you may know, it is difficult in Austria to organize events as an evangelical community because we are not a part of the official state church. We are so excited about the fact that God allowed Mathias and Marco, graduated of our discipleship school, to arrange a huge skater event in their home of Spittal. The were able to invite a professional skater, Josh Harmoney, (find him on youtube) from California to be with hundreds of skater kids over the weekend from Sept. 11-13th. Even the local mayor got excited about this youth event and made it an offical part of city events. They received lots of recognition and sponsorships, and were able to share the gospel with hundreds of kids. The mayor spoke to the skaters about the dangers of doing drugs, and two of the youth from church gave their testimonies about how they were able to become drug-free through the help of their relationship to Jesus Christ. Please pray for the kids who heard the Gospel, for those who made decisions to follow Christ, and for the church in Spittal to continue to be a light in their city.

The Biggest Evangelical Church in Austria
The first church we worked with in Graz has grown from 130 to around 280 people. The have been able to buy up three properties bordering their own in the middle of Graz. Now their plans are to build an auditorium that seats 450 people and is expandable to 600. This Fall, I will be bringing a group from the USA to help them with some of the construction. Can you help contribute for our travel expenses? The work has already begun, the nationals are excited, but they need reinforcements.

Born to Burn--Youth Convention
Please remember to pray for the annual nationwide youth convention coming up in May of 2010. I have been asked to be the main speaker for this. There will be young people from all over Austria challenged with the topic: Born to Burn! The committee is already working on all the preliminary planning, but they need our prayers.

Jen and I want to thank you personally for your prayers and your support. On September 11th, Jen turned 40! My college soccer coach on facebook wrote that "it is another token of God's grace that he has given a beautiful wife to such an an ordinary looking guy!" (Nice choice of words coach.)

With love and prayers, Bobby, Jen, and kids Parschauer

Update from Austria: April-June 2009

Dear Friends,

Who is this God who gives every star a name? Technology has allowed us to discover 10(22) stars to date. If you were to list the name of every discovered star in a phone book, you could cover the entire country of Austria with phone books and stack them 230 feet deep! We stand in awe of God who reaches far beyond our understanding, but yet He is personal, caring, and loving ("He heals the brokenhearted." Ps. 147:3)

Annual Youth Convention in Innsbruck a.k.a. PFIJU '09
"Called to Shine", was the theme of the annual youth conference this year. I was able to bring seven volunteers from our church in Lancaster to help convert a public high school into a youth convention. My topic was to teach a fantastic job challenging his fellow countrymen to rise above mediocrity. As he stated, one way to shine is by serving the city. So that is what we did: a free car wash, visits to retirement homes to sing, pray and take the elderly out for walks, and painting. Yes, we painted the inside of the public school with bright colours as requested by the principal. The youth were also able to raise $2000 to give to a local orphanage. The "highlight" of the weekend, however, was on Sunday night, when the young people were given the opportunity to rekindle a heart-to-heart relationship with God. They wrote their thoughts down on heart-shaped post it notes, and stuck them to large hearts on the wall of the auditorium.

Two Shining Stars: Chris and Tine Urch
Both Chris and Tine are youth leaders in our old Church in Graz. They have joined us for three months in an internship: "We are learning so much personally through the church in Lancaster. It is amazing to see how God provides more than we need." This couple is considering going into the ministry in Austria, and they are gathering some great ideas and impressions that they can bring back to their church in Graz.

Reinforcements...
I had a chance to meet with Robert Wascher this month in Austria. His wife is doing better, he has a missionary family moving into the area for extra help, and he is joining together with the Janz Team from Germany to increase his resources and opportunities to reach his valley for Christ. Recently while gathering statistics (his side-job) Robert came to a homestead with very cold reception. Since they are required by law to answer some questions, they invited Robert to come in. Robert is so personable, and soon the discussion turned to faith. He found that they had been to a Bible Study in the past. They were, however, turned away, always feeling guilty when they read the Bible. Robert was able to reaffirm that there is no condemnation in Christ, and through tears the couple accepted Christ as Savior! Please continue to pray for Robert and Hanna...I could tell you stories...

John and Liesi Doss are close to becoming Titus Missionaries. Please pray for them working in Eisenstadt outside of Vienna in a church plant. Liesi was in our discipleship school (first class) and John is from California. Currently they are offering some follow-up courses after Pro-Christ (an evangelistic outreach by satellite TV).

I will be teaching at an English camp in Austria this summer. Please pray for all the camps, and thank you for your concern. God hears the cries of every broken-hearted Austrian. We can be a part of answering a prayer or two.

In God's Hands,

Newsletter from Austria

"Jesus Wept...'Behold how He loved him.'" John 11:35-36

Dear Friends,

At times we don't feel loved! It can seem that the world eats away at the very substance of who we are. When our "love Bank" reaches empty it is important to remember that Jesus feels it too (John 11). He loves you more than you know. Feeling the lack of love is not a lack on God's part, but a lack of your understanding of how great His love for you is. Colossians 3 encourages us to take action! We have as a resource the Peace of Christ, the Word of Christ and the Name of Christ. We are to let these "dwell richly" within us.

Work Trip in February
Martin and Dani are key worship leaders in their church...all on a volunteer basis!! Beyond their church, they lead worship at other Christian gatherings (baptisms, weddings, conferences, camps...). Recently, they bought an old house with lots of 'snags.' We were able to come in with a group of willing helpers to complete twelve different projects for them. Martin said later that it would have taken him all of 2009 to do it! That is what I call facilitating nationals. Later I had the chance to speak at their church and see how God is doing work there. The church (we worked in for four years) is now looking at expanding and building a 600 seat auditorium! Anyone interested in going over there to help with that, can let me know. It will be the largest church auditorium in an Austrian free church!!!

Chris and Tina Urch
Twelve years ago, we started working in a teen group in Austria. Three apprehensive and mischievous 13 year old boys had just come up from the children's program to join the older ones. It is great to see how years later, God has used them and allowed them to progress actively in their faith. This year they and a couple of their siblings came out with their first Christian album. One of the guys, Christ, and his new wife, Tina are considering going into occupational ministry. They are planning to spend three months with us here in our home church. We want them to gain experience beyond their culture, and to learn some practical aspects of working in a church. Please pray for Chris and Tina Urch for this Spring.

Robert Wascher
Please continue to pray for Robert and Hanna Wascher. Hanna is still undergoing a time of depression, although it is slowly improving. During the end of March and the beginning of April, my brother Brent and I will be presenting Robert and Hanna in various churches for prayer and support. Robert updated me on a few things for prayer:
  • Through the death of his aunt, Robert was seen a renewed interest with some of his relatives visiting his church.
  • There are several new contacts from the past where Robert is seeing an interest in people joining home Bible studies with him for the purpose of reaching them with the Gospel.
  • Robert has been able to teach homiletics to three young men. His desire is for more people within the church to take on responsibilities without overwhelming them.
Tom and Helen
You may remember Tom and Helen from my last letter. They finally made it to the Arab country of Lebanon to work in an internship for six months under the leadership of an Arab couple. The goal is to support several of the underground churches. Tom is able to teach Guitar to different small group leaders, and they are being used to share the love of Christ with those they meet. This is a great experience before they go back to working in a church plant near Vienna. Please continue to pray for these up and coming nationals!

Annual Youth Retreat
In May I will be taking a group of Americans to Innsbruck, Austria, to help with our annual youth retreat. We are so excited to help in a supportive role in converting a public school into a youth camp! Please pray that lots of unsaved kids come, and that we are able to reach out to them with the love of Christ. This year our Titus National Missionary, Daniel Kistenich, is the main speaker. I will also be teaching a seminar on personal evangelism.

Thank you so much for your prayers. Jen and I are grateful for your support for Austria.

In the love of Christ,

Bobby and Jen - Titus Intl./AUSTRIA

October - December 2008

“O [your name] put your hope in the Lord, for with the LORD is unfailing love and …full redemption.” Psalms 130:7

Dear Friends,
No matter what lies ahead in 2009, you are commanded by an act of choice to put your hope/confidence in God. The reason for this has more to do with the object of our hope, and less with the circumstances around us. Thank God, His love will never fail, and His redemption is sure.

This Fall, Jen and I had the chance to visit the church in Graz that we first ministered in when we moved to Austria. The church has grown from 130 to 250 people. I was able to speak at their church retreat and we reconnected with “kids” who were in our teen group ten years ago. This time around we were pressed with questions on parenting, since many of them now have their own little ones. It was truly an awesome thing to see how God has guided so many of them along the way...every face you see here means something to us. A great new development in Graz is that we have been able to start a third region of our Evangelical Academy. Now young people are able to study theology, but remain in their home area in the state of Styria.

December – Month of Encouragement
We continue to support and encourage nationals along the way. On my last trip in December I was able to connect with unsaved and Christian friends. Please be in prayer for the following:

Richard Schmidt
On Saturday, Oct. 25th our dear friend and brother in Christ was playing soccer, when he suddenly collapsed on the field and died of complications with his heart. Richard had been instrumental in starting and leading the Austrian Prayer Movement among the youth. He was on tour with us in the USA in 2006, and we supported his ministry. I was able to visit his wife Melanie, and some of the band members on this last trip to pray with and encourage them. Melanie showed me a quote from Richards’ diary in 2002: “The time has come to storm the gates of heaven with our prayers. Austria is in bondage and held down by strongholds. We must increase our prayers for this country 100-fold.”

The Austrian Prayer Congress
On the first weekend in December I was able to attend the prayer movement which continues in Austria. On Sunday afternoon, the young people were sent out onto the streets of Vienna to strike up conversations with Christmas shoppers. It was great to see people being stretched and pushed to pray for their lost friends and loved ones.

Michi and Liesi Bozanovic
Michi, from our church in Villach, has finally finished his studies in Theology and is being groomed to take over the youth ministry in our state, Kärnten. Please pray for him and Liesi as they are newly married, and Michi seeks part time employment in a secular field. They are looking at raising some supplementary support until the churches in Kärnten can do more for them.

Marco and Dagmar
“You were like a Paul, and I felt like your Timothy..." Marco went through our discipleship program and EVAK, and has been effective in the youth ministry in Spittal. He is having a “desert” phase in his ministry and needs our prayers. It is tough for him to balance working full time and lead a youth ministry and a new marriage. Please pray for Marco and Dagmar.

Tom and Helen
Tom is close to finishing his studies with our EVAK. He was in our original teen group. He and Helen have great leadership skills, and they have the opportunity to go to Lebanon for a six month internship. After that they will begin in a newly planted church in Vienna. Go, nationals!
Pray for them all...
In Christ,
Bobby, Jen and Kids Parschauer

Postcard from Bobby & Jen Parschauer

Hi Pastor Joe and Friends of Missions:

Just on my way back from another great trip to Austria where the cathedrals are empty but God is allowing a continued prayer movement among the youth despite the tragic death of one of our national leaders. Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel. We wish you all God's best for 2009.

Bobby & Jen Parshauer: July - September 08

"If this plan or action should be of men, it will be overthrown..." Acts 5:38b

Dear Friends,

Beijing 2008 had the longest Olympic torch relay in history with more cities visited than in any past games! Whether we believe it or not, we are the continuation of a 2000 year "torch-bearing marathon" of Christ followers. We are carrying truth taken from a small group of men called "The Way". Nearly 50 generations back, the wise, unbelieving Pharisee Gamaliel said, "If this plan or action should be of men, it will be overthrown; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may be found fighting against God." (Acts 5:38b-39). To be a torch-bearer is a special honor. The first "runners" paid a big price, but their reaction was, "they went on their way rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name." (Acts 5:41)

Light Through Language: E - Camps 2008

this summer the BEG, together with several other organizations hosted five English camps. These are great opportunities for parents to send their kids to improve their English speaking skills. Unsaved young people are immersed into an American world where they experience games, foods and slang, including chapel! This year at the camp in Routte, Tirol, our theme was "Route 66", where I was able to challenge young people to take the "highway" with God! On the second night, fifteen young people responded to the prayer to trust Christ as Savior. After the counselors had a chance to talk with the kids individually, we found that five were first time decisions, and the others were wanting to have assurance. Fabienne is a girl who lives in a foster home, and after the first night at camp she told her counselor that she is angry with God. She resisted the message of salvation. Three days later, while out walking with her counselor, she repented of her anger and chose to accept Christ! Tanja, another young camper, resisted the Gospel message until the last night, when she prayed to receive Christ with her counselor! It is just great to see kids come to Jesus at camp as young teens, then choose to return each year, and desire to follow Him as seventeen and eighteen year old! Many of them do not have a Gospel preaching church in their home towns, and no youth groups. As a result, the camp tries to keep in touch with them by email, and by handing out a phone list before they leave.

A Beacon of Light in Innsbruck
While in Austria, I was able to visit our Titus co-workers, Daniel and Julie Kistenich in their church in Innsbruck. It is a clever idea...; several churches joined together to build a secular conference center called the Novum. They rent the facilities at different times to have their church services. The secular setting makes it a smaller "hurdle" for non-believers to enter the building.

European Soccer Cup in Austria and Switzerland
At Euro 2008, the only Austrian City to get a permit for public events right on the "Fan Meile" (the main gathering area for all the soccer fans in the city), was in Innsbruck. Daniel and Julie hosted 20 people from the USA who came to work with Austrians. They had a truck with a stage for concerts, a 10x14 ft. screen to show the games, street soccer tournaments, a kids "play land", a climbing tower and lots of great conversation about Jesus. They found that there was great openness among those under age 25. Four young people mad a decision to trust Christ during that time.

Representing Nationals
We realize that due to the economy, many churches are struggling to maintain their current budgets. Due to temporary supplemental income while serving part-time in our local church, I am able to divert some support finance to projects for nationals. However, they do still need our prayers and encouragement, so I have included a prayer sheet for some of the nationals to represent. If you have a Sunday school class, or the desire to "adopt" one or more for these nationals, please contact me as we would like to develop more significant partnerships with these nationals.

Prayer Corner
- For those who were saved at camp and Euro 2008 this summer to grow in their faith
- For Daniel and Julie Kistenich in their ministry in Innsbruck
- Robert and Hannah Wascher - Hannah is currently suffering from a depression
- Praise! Shelby's Wolff-Parkinson-White has been corrected by a successful ablation. PTL!
- Pray for the fall church retreat in Graz, Austria. Jen and I will be there to speak and encourage friends

Bobby and Jen Parschauer - July 08

Dear Friends,
Over and over again God commands us not to be afraid.
“Fear not” (i.e. Gen. 15:1; 21:17; 26:24; 35:17; 43:23; 46:3; 50:19; 50:21...) seems to pop up in many of the 66 books of the Bible. I guess God is trying to tell us something! Whether it is finances, your health, your schedule, a relationship, He calls us to trust Him. That means we cannot allow our hearts to become troubled. We must replace those thoughts with His promises. I often stumble in this area when I am trying to push my agenda. When I surrender my day to Christ, I am able to let go of my fears and know that He is in control.

FAITHFUL GOD
The longer we live, the more we are able to look back and see the traces of a faithful God, who brings us all along in our service for Him. On my trip to Austria in May, I was able to go with my long-time friend, Chris Coats. Some of you may remember him having worked with us from 1997 to 2001. It was like the “good ol’ days”, with Chris doing the music, and me the preaching in the various churches we ministered in. At the annual youth gathering (Pfingstjugendtreff) I had the special privilege to teach one of the Seminars on the topic of how to make decisions in the “gray areas” of life.
On our journey we met up with the Gmoapartie band from Graz, and we were able to meet with another band in Linz to discuss the potential of doing a tour in the USA.
I was also able to reconnect with the leaders of the youth council to discuss how we can continue to best facilitate future leaders for Austria. One special bonus was to meet a young man named Manuel. He came up to me at the youth convention and said that he accepted Christ when I spoke at a summer camp in 1998; what a blessing to see him still faithful 10 years later.

PEOPLE OF FAITH
Robert and Hanna Wascher are people of faith. Robert is perhaps the most gifted Austrian Home Bible Study evangelist I have ever met. Ten years ago, he left a high paying job as the Operations Manager at a shoe factory in order to step up to the “plate” and become a Pastor in his own country. Here we see the beauty of missions, when nationals stop depending so heavily on missionaries and begin to take on responsibility in their territory. It can be a fearful thing to only receive a fraction of your salary, and have to live much more by faith, but it can also be a great adventure to see God provide. We are seeking temporary support and prayer for this family. So far, their church is not able to fully support them. As a result, I invited Robert to the States in April and was able to present him to churches in PA, DE, and NY. We were not able to raise as much support as I had hoped, so I would ask you to please pray for Robert and Hanna. If you would like more information on how you can “Adopt” this national, please send me your request. If you would like to send a one-time donation for Robert and Hanna, please make checks out to Titus International, write Bobby Parschauer/Wascher in the memo and send to: Titus International, 1515 Mc Brien Rd., Chattanooga, TN 37412. Danke.

WHAT LIES AHEAD?
Please pray for the English Camps this summer. In August I will be the camp speaker at one of the camps. Usually, two-thirds of the young people who come to these are unsaved, and we need to pray that God’s presence will be strong, and that young people will be saved.

PRAYER CORNER
• Robert and Hanna Wascher.
• The multiplication of Austrian leaders.
• My upcoming trip to Austria in August; speaking at English Camp.
• After 18 years of ministry, our pastor has left our home church. As a result I have been asked to help fill the pulpit until they can find a replacement. Please pray for Jen and I in this.

YOU CAN HELP!
Mark any donations on your offering envelope as “Bobby & Jennifer Parschauer.”
